Building Community and Character Development in the Classroom: Edith Winthr op Teacher Center
How can you create a safe learning environment in the classroom? How do you motivate students to work together as they learn? How can you combat bullying, teasing, and peer pressure—and strengthen your classroom learning environment?
Teaching artists John Cimino and Krista Apple will present a three-day course for classroom teachers at the Edith Winthrop Teacher Center of Westchester that addresses community and student integrity in the classroom.
Through application of the arts and interactive learning methods, this professional development will train teachers of all ages and disciplines how to effect a safe, productive, and supportive learning environment: how to reinforce honesty and trust with every student, and how to prevent common social challenges—bullying, teasing, and the like—from standing in the way of learning processes.
The Edith Winthrop Teacher Center is located in Hartsdale, New York. For more information or to enroll for the course, call (914) 948-8037 or email ewtc@ewteachercenter.org.
