"Simple Gifts," "The Ugly Duckling," "Anyone Can Whistle," "Where Is Love?," "My Favorite Things," "Picture A World," "Nothin’s Gonna Harm You," "The Emperor's New Clothes," and more…
This program introduces young children to storytelling through music while nurturing the development of imagination and intuition. SIMPLE GIFTS weaves together themes of caring for each other, working together and taking care of our world. The program is friendly, interactive, and filled with surprising discoveries. It also includes important time for questions and conversation with the children.
Myths, legends and fables from around the world come to life through music and theatrical storytelling! Camelot, Kismet, The Wizard of Oz, The Pied Piper, Syrinx and the Pipes of Pan, the West African tale of Gassira's Lute, The Story of El Ahrairah from Richard Adam's book Watership Down, Joseph Campbell's The Hero's Journey, and more. Each performance presentation is tailored to meet the needs and grade levels of the students. Teachers can help select the myths and fables presented to their classes. Each myth or fable, with its legend and mythology, is introduced before performance by students who have studied the selections with their class. Performances of the myths and fables include frequent student participation.
Follow me! Follow me to a wondrous place of fantastic tales! In THE MAGIC FLUTE, the flute becomes the voice and storyteller of great myths, legends and fables. The children are introduced to Greek Mythology through a musical re-telling of the story of Pan and the wood Nymph, Syrinx. History and literature come to life in the colorful tale of the Pied Piper and Native American flute player/traveling salesman, Kokopeli. Opera and the heroes journey are celebrated with Mozart's fantastic tale, THE MAGIC FLUTE. After using prepared study guide material, the children are encouraged to become the players, the artists and the heroes in each of these dramas while learning history, culture, storytelling traditions and participation in the arts.
